The José Julio Sarria / Nicole Murray Ramirez International Court Scholarship Fund is a living tribute to two legendary LGBTQ leaders. José Julio Sarria, World War II veteran and founder of the International Court System, made history in 1961 as the first openly gay candidate to run for public office in North America and remains a defining figure in LGBTQ civil rights.
Queen Mother I of the Americas, Nicole Murray Ramirez, is recognized for more than four decades of advocacy, philanthropy, and civic leadership across the United States.
Administered by the International Imperial Court Council, this scholarship fund supports students pursuing higher education who demonstrate leadership, community service, and a commitment to equality. Drawing on the Court System’s legacy of “noble deeds,” the fund provides vital financial assistance and is among more than 30 scholarship programs awarded annually throughout the Imperial Court System’s 70 chapters in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Recipients are selected for their outstanding academic promise and dedication to advancing the values of dignity, inclusivity, and service that define the International Court System’s mission and impact.
